The impact women’s college rugby has had on the overall development of the women’s game in Ireland has arguably gone unnoticed in recent times. However recent events indicate that this may be about to change.
One such even was the publication of an article by UL stalwart Fiona Reidy which was recently posted on the Irish rugby website www.knockon.ie. Though Reidy concedes that UL have been at the forefront of the college game for some time now, she also notes the potential of other university and IT clubs, with NUIG’s own Heather Cary coming in for particular praise. Needless to say, articles like this, and more sustained PR around the college game will not only benefit college rugby, but the women’s game as a whole.
